Life hopes and without hope, does not survive: Hope is the will to live and as long as we remain alive, we have hope. And if we have truly lost hope, so with it our will to live for we have given up.
If our inner sight remains vague, our expectation wanders and vacillates, making the path ill defined at best and lost entirely at worst, thereby losing our hope. If we lose hope, we lose our expectations. When expectations are lost, life no longer seeks and reaches out. This is the nature of despair.
Life hopes for what can be, could be, or will be. Hope keeps us moving forward towards something better or greater than we have today. Hope is the beacon in the fog when all is lost and though seemingly false, it is quite real when followed and prooves itself true every time if we have the stamina to make it to the shore it stands on.
But it is within despair that we are able to find our way back to the path. When we lose hope, we lose our ability to move forward and the only way for life to survive is to continually advance. Therefore, we must dig ourselves out of the muck we have fallen into and get ourselves back onto firm ground. Despair provides us with the answer we need, for when we despair, our whole world becomes grey and fogged. In this state we can find ourselves sinking fast and this is our answer: When a thing is lost, we learn its value and when hope is lost, we realize how much we had to be thankful for. It is this thankfulness that begins the journey back.
