pillars-iconHope allows us to make the leap from one state of being to another, both in the abstract and in the concrete. Hope is the expectation of something fulfilled: We see the fulfillment within the heart and the mind and the more thoroughly we see it, the more concrete the hope becomes. In this way, hope provides us with a path to follow to reach the fulfillment of itself.

Hope allows us to create the possibility of a better way of being than we know in the present. This keeps us moving forward when we would otherwise give up. The more clearly we hold this hope, the more tangible that better way of being becomes. It sets barriers against the storms of life and prevents us being lost to them.

However, there are storms that come in life that bat aside any defense set against them. The purpose of such storms is to show us the illusory hopes and test the genuine ones and our hold on them. These storms test our vitality, strength and will. They also test our intelligence – that which we have within us to learn and grow, be it heart and / or mind.
