Sense Perception

Insights-iconThe sense we trust the most is the sense which exposes us the least. The sense that will bring us into direct contact with life is used least. The first is to see and the second is to touch. What we see, we believe, but it is what we don’t see that holds the truth of what is because then it remains undistorted by our interpretation. What we touch we can know. This is the basis of all faith: To believe in order to see.

We think that all perception is locked within our body: The sense of seeing from the eyes, the sense of hearing from the ears, the sense of touch primarily within the hands. But the sense of touch shows us the true nature of perception. Touch is a wholistic experience that involves the entire body and extends beyond it. For instance, we are able to sense another presence in a space we are in and some can feel when another looks at them. All our senses have the capacity to be extended because the larger part of them exist outside the confines of our bodies.

Through touch we can access our true sight which resides within. All things are energy and when we pour some of our energy into another system, we receive a sort of sonogram. This activates our internal sight. However, touch is the baseline and sight the melody, therefore touch should always guide sight to remain in touch with the whole. If sight is allowed to lead, we only deal with a part of the system and then begin to superimpose what we think should be there by filling in the gaps left by not relying on touch to guide.

In perceiving something we take from the consciousness of the Universe because all exists in exchange with itself. This happens in order for one part to understand another part’s experience. If this is done with touch in the lead, we are able to know and therefore accept I, you, us, and whole. If sight leads, which can only take in parts, things are understod as separate entities. This is how and where we distort the truth of what has been exchanged, because we are in fact never apart from anything else: We are expressions of one another and we are expressions of the Universe.

Each living thing embodies an aspect of the complete truth. By relying on sight, we rely on imagination and imagination is interpretation. This is a removal of truth. It is a shield against becoming truly engaged: We are dividing ourselves from life, seeking to project ourselves onto another to alter it to conform to what makes us comfortable. Being comfortable is what we think we know, but is really nothing more that what is familiar. We do this rather than being; rather than allowing ourselves to be taught.

Therefore truth is deflected away from itself in order to understand it and one has instead only a false appearance rather than the true substance. It is bent back to its source and we are left with not the voice, which is meant to resonate within us, but rather the echo, which we cannot hear. In being, we are whole and touch allows this to become a personal understanding and therefore we learn.

Our senses, both confined and extended, are meant for exchange between ourselves and all other life around us, enabling us to allow. In allowing, we are allowed and thus something greater than interpretation comes to us: Comprehension of what is experienced and that brings true perception for we do not simply see the appearance, we hold the substance.
